How often should I have my machine serviced?

It will vary depending on use. If you use your machine every day then service your machine yearly.
For average domestic use then service every two years.
Selected brands require services on their machines at regular times to keep the guarantee

Why should I have my machine routinely service?

Routine servicing of your sewing machine or overlocker can help prolong it life and keep it working for longer.

Just like a car, servicing can pick up any issues that are starting to appear, especially as a machine gets older. Spotting these early and sorting can help prevent major issues later in a machines life.

Our Technicians
Our technicians have a vast knowledge and in depth understanding of sewing machines, both domestic and industrial, overlockers and embroidery machines. Their skill and experience enables them to repair and service machines regardless of age, complexity or Brand.

We repair or service any make of machines, regardless of whether we sell the Brand here in the Bristol shop.

Their experience is further enhanced with full training from all the leading manufacturers on repair or service specifics for that brand of machine.
Jeremy Segal
Jeremy has over 41 years experience of mending and servicing machines having initially learnt the trade from his father (Alf) who originally established the business in 1963.

Subject to availability of parts, working on older and traditional hand crank machines is not a problem due to the extensive knowledge passed from father to son.

As machines evolved over the decades to now include the popular long arms, Jeremy has attended all additional training provided by manufacturers. This specialised training means that your machine is repaired or serviced on site.

In 2007, Alf retired and Jeremy has now expanded the business including moving to a larger premises, continuing this family run, long established business into the 21st century.
John Hughes
John has spent his life surrounded by machines after his Father completed a Singer apprenticeship in the 1960's.  This would inevitable lead John to join the trade as well.

After 25 years in retail, John joined his father's business in South Wales selling, servicing and repairing domestic and industrial machines. He regularly sets up and maintains sewing rooms for colleges and universities.

John has extensive knowledge in maintaining and servicing industrial machines.

We are delighted to announce that John has now joined the business in a permanent position having worked part time for us over the last 5 years.
