The shape of this tip displaces the fabric threads and allows the needle to go through the gaps.  Making the needle ideal for solid, thick fabrics more easily without damaging the fabric.  The design of this needle ensure high needle stability and helps to prevent skipped stitches.
As jeans needle are a thicker needle they are ideal for thick fabric, however remember that the thicker the fabric the higher the number needle size is required.
