This is an ideal workshop for anyone who has been given a sewing machine and unsure how to get to grips with the basics, of if you need a refresher after being inspired to start to sew again. 

Perfect for the beginner.

Cathy, your tutor, will guide you through your machine in a small friendly welcoming group. Enough time will be made for you to be able to practice threading your machine before you leave.

By the end of the workshop you will be able to confidently -

  • Thread your machine
  • Troubleshooting your machine
  • Understand tensions
  • Understand needles, their types, sizes and what to use for which fabric
  • How to use the utility stitches like, blindhemming, overcasting, buttonholes, .
  • How to sew a stright seam everytime
  • How to sew a curved seam
  • How to turn corners

All of the above will be sewn as samples, for you to write on and take home for reference along with typed notes and intructions.

NB - Please note -  If time allows we may be able to look at any additional feet. This workshop is designed to give you the confidence to use and thread your machine.

  2. Scissors and pins

  4. Notebook
